Fitting The Engine

The engine mounts supplied by Pilgrim for Rovers (Ford parts) can for some engines seem to be too soft. This causes problems as the engine will rock when reved (8-10mm sideways movement), this can lead to problems with the rocker cover hitting the brake servo, and also excessive movement between the exhaust headers and the exhaust which will be mounted to the chassis, this can lead to cracks in the headers. To prevent this the engine mounts can be replaced with stiffer landrover mounts, these are made from much stiffer rubber and some have metal plates within them. Fitting these can greatly reduce the amount of movement of the engine and eliminate the problems noted above.
