Fan Switch range and Part numbers
Intermotor are widely used as OEM and available from most motor factor outlets. See the table below for a list of switches and part numbers.
Ideally you should have a switch that comes on at a slightly higher temperature than the thermostat opens otherwise you will end up with the fan constantly running, or if its too high the engine getting too hot.
For the Rover V8's, a 74 or 82 degree thermostats are available and are common choices. The 74 is generally considered better as it will keep the engine cooler but also gives a wider choice of fan switch.
With a 74 degree stat a fan switch around 88-83 would be about right.
With an 82 degree stat a fan switch around 92-83 would be about right but the fan may run too much, you may also think 92 is too high for the fan to kick in.
If you get the fan switch from Pilgrim its worth checking the value they will supply as you would need to consider the ideal operating temperature of your engine and the thermostat fitted.
